Oracle Capital Charitable was very proud to announce the launch of “Houghton Revisited – Masterpieces of the Walpole Collection”.
The magnificent art collection created by Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole which was later sold to Catherine the Great of Russia to adorn the Hermitage in St Petersburg was reassembled in its spectacular original setting at Houghton Hall in Norfolk for the first time in over 200 years this summer. Houghton Revisited runs from 17 May – 29 September 2013, and is a unique opportunity to see one of the most famous art collections of 18th century Europe including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Velazquez, Poussin and Rubens.
The show includes 70 paintings from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum as well as other Russian museums, the V&A, London, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and The National Gallery, Washington, D.C. The exhibition offers the public a splendid opportunity to see this legendary British collection temporarily returned to the original owner’s home.
